Flameshield Fireduct - We Manufacture and Supply Flameshield Fireduct BS
Flameshield Fireduct BS was the first non-coated ductwork system to achieve full compliance to all parts of the BS 476 Part 24.
We manufacture Flameshield Fireduct from the highest quality, galvanised sheet steel and is produced on specialist manufacturing systems. Due to the innovative design and construction of Flameshield Fireduct BS there is no need for the application of any external fire resistant spray or covering to ensure compliance with standards. This means we can provide much quicker turnaround times, from drawing through manufacture and delivery.
Flameshield Fireduct has been fully tested and has been compliant with BS 476 Part 24 standard since 2007. Flameshield Fireduct exceeds all the minimum requirements for the BS 476 Part 24 standard for fire resistance in ductwork, making it the first choice for Ventilation and Extraction solutions in buildings where fire resistance to this standard is required.
The purpose of BS 476 Part 24 (1987) and ISO6944 (1985) is to measure and ensure the ability of a ductwork system to resist the spread of fire whilst maintaining its stability and integrity as a ductwork system. Flameshield Fireduct achieves this without the requirement of any external or internal coatings.
BS 476 Part 24
The standard for assessment involves testing and passing a variety of different scenarios to ensure the ductwork meets all the requirements of the standard. Flameshield Fireduct BS is still, after almost 10 years, the leading product on the market to achieve this for all parts of the standard.
BS 476 Part 24 tests two different scenarios, Flameshield Fireduct will maintain its stability and integrity for up to 2 hours and provides for 2 hours insulation for duct type A where fire exposure is from outside to the inside. Flameshield Fireduct and will maintain its stability and integrity for up to 4 hours and provides for 2 hours insulation for duct type B where fire exposure from inside to the outside.
BS 476 Part 24 requires tests to be passed for both duct A and duct B standards, insulated and un-insulated and rectangular in shape, all installed horizontally. Flameshield Fireduct has passed and provides compliance with all parts of the standard.
The Flameshield system has passed all tests required for the system to be used for smoke extract systems and will retain at least 75% of its shape and provide stability and integrity in full fire conditions for a period of 2 hours as required by the standard.
Not all non-coated, fire resistant ductwork products are the same!
Other non-coated, fire resistant ductwork systems available on the market often claim to be standards compliant, however many have only been tested against selected parts of the standards, and in some cases have passed only one or two parts of the standard successfully.
If you want to specify a product that guarantees compliance with the required standards for your critical ventilation and smoke extraction systems there is only one choice - Flameshield Fireduct BS.
