Design Criteria

Due care and consideration must be made to establish that the fire rated system complies with all of the requirements for which it is being applied. The correct type of system along with the required ratings must be specified, there might be occasions when expert advice is required.

Kent Ductwork Limited are able to offer expert advice when considering the following factors:

Define the type of system required:

  • Fire Inside - Type B Duct
  • Fire Outside - Type A Duct

Define the type of ductwork required:

  • Ventilation/Kitchen Extract/Smoke Extract/Car Park Extract/Stair Pressurisation.

Determine the period of fire rating.

  • Stability
  • Integrity
  • Insulation

Determine the static pressure requirements.

  • Low Pressure - Class A - 500 Pa positive or negative.
  • Medium Pressure - Class B - 1000 Pa positive or negative.
  • High Pressure - Class C - 2000Pa positive or negative.
